First Friday
On the First Friday of each month (September through May), we gather as a group for Mass, followed by classes and activities.
After class, many of us bring picnic lunches and eat at the church. Others go out to eat before we meet for an afternoon of recreation.
Why Is First Friday Special?
We celebrate the Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus by attending Mass on the First Friday of the month for nine consecutive months. Our Lord promised St. Margaret Mary that those who received the Eucharist during these Liturgies would be blessed with the "grace of final repentence." Many parishes still encourage First Friday devotions among the faithful. Today, many people who grew up with this devotion display an image of the Sacred Heart in their homes and light a candle before Our Lord on First Fridays.
